December 24th 2012

Today was Christmas Eve. Me and my family had a lot of stuff to do today to get the last few bits done before Christmas. I think Amanda cam over to my house for like an hour to give me my Christmas presents. She came up to my room and gave me 4 presents all wrapped individually. She got me a bottle a perfume; the same one that Katie got me, but I was happy because I really liked the smell of it, she got me a new make-up brush because she said my other was ridiculously worn out and used, she got me a lovely bracelet which is gorgeous and so me, and the present that she said wasn't ready on the last day of school was a key-ring with a picture of me and her in it. I love it! It was worth the wait and was such a good idea and a lovely thing to get me. She then left and I started to help my mam with getting the house clean and tidy.

Me and my family left the house and headed to Cherry Orchard Hospital to visit my nanny who is now a permanent resident. We went there and went into her ward and she was asleep, she didn't know who anybody was which I thought was really sad because I would hate that to happen to me because it's such a bad way to live. We stayed there for  about an hour, took a few pictures and gave her a few Christmas cards and then we brought her into the place where they had dinner cooking for her. We then left and headed for the graveyard, we bought a few bunches of lovely flowers and a Christmas wreath and set off for the grave. It was really cold and my mam and dad were sorting out the flowers on the grave and then afterwards we said a few prayers.

I had planned to go out to Brian so that we could exchange our Christmas presents. I got either my mam or my dad to drop me up to Brian's house and I went in and gave him his presents. He opened his card first and he gave me mine. He got me "18 months" by Calvin Harris and a good few belly bars, I was delighted because I wanted to be able to change the colour of it depending on what I was wearing. I got him a silver bracelet and R.E.D by Ne-Yo. We were both in such a happy mood and were hugging and kissing and then Brian went in to show his mam and dad the presents I got him, I then handed a Christmas gift bag to Karen and she opened it and took out a bottle of red wine and a box of Roses. She smiled and thanked me. She then handed me a package. I thanked her and then me and Brian went back into the kitchen. I opened it and it was a leopard cuddly toy which was so soft. Me and Brian then left because we were going back to my house so that Brian could give my parents the presents he got for them.

We went in and me, Brian, my mam and dad were talking for a few minutes about our plans for Christmas Day and the holidays. Brian then gave my mam a bag and she thanked Brian and then my mam and dad went off so me and Brian were just chatting away for a few minutes. Brian then left because there was so much for me and my family to do to prepare for Christmas Day. For the rest of the afternoon and night, I was helping my mam around the house with little tasks that needed to be done for Christmas Day. We made sure that the decorations were all up, the dining room table was set, the food was getting cooked, the floors were hovered and all counters were polished. We also changed the bed covers which is a tradition in my house. After all of the jobs were done, I went upstairs to wash my hair and have a shower, I then cleaned around my room and got my clothes ready for the next day and then I straightened my hair. I then got into bed at about 10.30pm and tried my best to get to sleep but despite me being 17 years old, I still acted like a child by not being able to get to sleep because I was so excited.

December 21st 2012

Today was the last day of my exams, I had Maths and Spanish that day and the world was "supposed" to be ending at like 11.20am but I didn't believe that would happen, it was just a rumour. I walked to school at about 8.30am with Amanda and when we got to the traffic lights nearest my school, we met up with Rachel and then 3 of us walked the rest of the way. I gave and Amanda and Rachel their Christmas presents and they hugged me and said they wouldn't open them until we got into school. When we got in and were all sitting down, they opened them. I got Amanda a lovely diamond bead bracelet and a perfume with spray, she loved them and gave me another hug. I got Rachel a necklace with the letter "R" on it and a nice bottle of perfume, she loved it and she also gave me a hug. Rachel had given me mine and it was a nice bath set with loads of bubbles, lotion and bath beads. It was so nice that everyone was happy and giving each other presents.

When Alex and Katie came along, I gave then their presents too and they gave me mine. Katie got me a nice make-up set, a bottle of perfume and a giant candy-cane. It was really nice and I gave her a massive hug. I had got Katie a nice bottle of perfume and a pair of blue stud earrings. Alex gave me a lovely gift bag with a gorgeous purple/leopard-print scarf, a Christmas mug with sweets and a photo holder which had the letters "LOL" on it and on the 2 L's there was a metal circle thing where you can put a photo. I loved it and it was so me. All the presents were exactly what I wanted.

My maths exam was in room 32 and I was sitting at the front at the right hand side of the room, next to the window because despite the weather, it was really hot. Ms. Watson gave our exam papers out and then she went and another teacher took over. Midway through my exam, Ms. Watson returned and she spoke to the teacher who was there and then started walking over towards me. I was thinking to myself  "What have I done now?", she came over and bent over to talk to me, she apologized for interrupting yet another one of my exams and then she put an envelope on my table and said "Just a little something", I didn't really no what that meant, so when she left, I opened the envelope and it was a "Thank-you" card. 

I opened it and it read:

"Lauren,

Thank you so much for your very kind and generous present. It was really good of you and most unexpected! I hope you have a great Christmas and a good rest.

                                                                                                P. Watson."

I was touched and happy that she had liked it, she didn't need to get me anything but it was a nice thing for her to do. I carried on with my exam, which was really hard.

 

I then had my Spanish exam and me and Alex went to Room 20 where the rest of our classmates where and we all just got talking about the exam and the world ending. I decided to text my mam for a joke saying how much I loved her and I would see her on the other side. She sent me back a text saying "Fuck off Lauren, I'm here on my own because Bailey can't save me". Me and Alex were breaking our hearts laughing and then Bebhinn decided to call her mam and tell her that she would see her on the other side and that she loved her, it was so funny because of the way she was saying it.

When the exam started, we had Ms. Macken supervising us and when it was coming up to 11.20am, we were all looking at each other, preparing ourselves for the "end of the world". 11.21am and nothing happened, it was all a myth, the world didn't end, and everyone carried on with their exam. The exam was okay, not easy and not hard but okay. I was finished with about 20 minutes to spare at the end. Alex was laughing and she pointed over to Bebhinn and Robyn who were messing but putting things in their mouths like highlighters and pens which was really funny because of the faces they were pulling. I couldn't stop laughing because they were just mad.

December 20th 2012

Today I had Biology and Home Economics which were the 2 exams I was mostly worried about because they were kind of essential to get into college. In the morning I had a study period so I studied both subjects as best as I could. I then went to room 31 where my Biology exam was. It was about mid way when Ms. Watson came in and she was looking down the back of the room where I was sitting. She then stood up and walked over to me and said that I needed to move the table over because it was too close to the table beside me, she moved about 2 tables and then moved mine over, she smiled at me, then walked away. I don't think, she I was cheating, I think she just thought that the tables were too close together. Not a big deal, she probably didn't want me getting into trouble in the real exam.

I then had my Home Economics exam which was just as hard but as I did with all my other exams so far, I just tried my best which is all anyone can ever do. 

December 19th 2012

Today's exams were Geography and Irish but I had 1 study period before geography which was good. I studied in the morning but when it came around to my Geography exam, I went into room 30 and there was no tables available so I stood outside and waited for a teacher to come along and help me. Ms. Kavanagh Bracken came and she helped me push a table and chair from room 29 into room 30 but when we came back in, I think it was Davina who said "Lauren there's a table over here!" I didn't see that table when I went in there for the first time. I thanked Ms. Kavanagh Bracken and she brought the table and chair back. I sat over beside the heater and started my exam.

Oh My God! It was so hard, I could've cried during the exam but I tried my best, by answering all of the questions and not leaving anything blank, which is all I can do.

Irish was no better because well it's Irish. I tried my best and answered all the questions. The exams were not off to a good start. :'( 

December 18th 2012

Today was the first day of my Christmas exams. I had English in the afternoon in room 29 so I had 2 study periods so that was grand I could get a good bit of studying done. The English exam went okay like it wasn't hard but it wasn't that easy.
